Buddhist Mudras

Mudras are symbolic hand gestures that have spiritual meaning in Buddhism.  These are six types of mudras commonly seen on Buddha images and statues.

Anjali mudra

Mudra of greeting, prayer, and respect

Abhaya mudra

Mudra of blessings, peace, and protection

Dhyana mudra

Mudra of meditation

Bhumisparsa mudra

Mudra of touching the earth

Karana mudra

Mudra of dispelling evil, anxiety, fear, and negativity

Dharmachakra mudra

Mudra of teaching the Dharma
